Black strips

so im getting my car painted on monday but there is one problem. the black stripes on the side of my car, they said that you shouldnt paint over them because it wont stay for very long. should i take the chance and paint over them or should i take his advice.

if you try to paint them body colored it will probably look really bad after a short time. Just have them touch up the black paint. It will look way better when it's not faded.

i have had painted moldings for ove a year now and they are holding up fine

Plastic can be painted fine, but you have to prep it with the right product first or the paint won't adhere properly. Any professional car painter should be able to do this. If your painter is telling you it can't be done then he probably doesn't know how...

Whether you paint them or not, remove them first.

I had painted moldings on my 87 sport that I had done and it looked gooooood. Was still looking that way three years later.

seriously get a smart painter, if he can't do plastics then how is he going to do your front/rear bumpers?
