Black smoke

I have a 87 T2 in a NA that I took the smog equipment off. Now it runs bad and is blowing black smoke. What can cause the fuel system to run rich?? Can the FPR if it is not getting vac cause this or where should I start looking. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sheldon

Why would you not have a vac. reference to the FPR?

Black smoke

I removed the EGR, BAC SPLIT AIR, ACV, THERMOWAX, THE OMP and installed block off plater as per the instructions. I added premix to the fuel 1 oz./Gal.
Left the stock air box. Removed both CAT's and installed a new S/S down pipe ext. Installed a new O2 sensor. Rewired the T2 harrness to work with my NA.
I installed a vac line from the LIM to the F/R as per the instruction that I pulled off the fourm. I pulled vac off the UIM for the BOV. I have tried to use search on the fourm to find some help, but can not find any thing that seems to help. I just did not want to pull every thing back apart, if someone had an idea of what it might be. Like I said the car ran great before no smoke, but the gages did not work. I do not want to be a pain I just need some idea where to go from here. Everone has been so helpfull in the past and I hope they know how much I appreciate it.
Thanks
Sheldon

1oz per gallon can be a bit rich. Its not going to hurt anything, but you should expect some smoke.

It is not oil smoke. It's fuel and is running bad. Can the F/R cause the engine to run rich?? One place had the F/R vac. coming off the UIm, I don't know if that could make a difference.

You can use any port on the manifold for a vac source, except for 2 or 3 of them right at the throttle body. Those will be a mix of vac and metered air. So, as long as your FPR is connected to one of the nipples further down the intake path, it'll see vacuum. For what it's worth, changes in pressure (or vac) that the FPR sees will be a major part in whether the engine runs lean or rich. Pulling the vac line off similates fuel delivery when the engine is at atmospheric pressure, and pumping pressurized air into the FPR hose simulates fuel delivery under boost.

Thanks.
I'll check that first and make sure I'm getting vac at the F/R.

Black smoke

well I changed the vac line fron the LIM to the UIM. Still smokes tried to drive it to see if it would clean up, but it would rev from idle to 6K RPM on its own. Then it quit and would only restart if I let it set for 5 min. or so. It act like it is not get fuel and getting to much fuel at the same time. I'm not sure where to start. I had planed to change the fuel pume to a 255LPM and add a FP reg./Gage to the system. Any thing else I should get.
