black smoke

today and yesterday while driving a problem that hasn't happend in a long time resurfaced. the cars speed drops to about 10mph and it shakes/studders. and if i give it a little gas i smell the gas. it also puts out puffs of black smoke. im not sure what it could be. i was told it could be my cats/o2 sensor/fuel pump or filter.

i'm guessen if you have an older cat that it could be haven problems. i have had that happen on two vehicles now and i could be somethen like that. check it out. don't like consider that gospel cause it could be in the fuel system or the ignition system. check for a loose coil wire or somethen.

It's running stupid rich. I would say that you have an injector that is freezing up. Have them professionally cleaned.
