Black junk in intake
Quick question:
I recently took the intake manifold off of my T2. There was black crap coating the walls of 2 of the paths. This car has about 127k mi. on it. I have already cleaned it all out. any ideas on why it might be there? my dad thinks the turbo is leaking oil, but I figure if that was the problem, then I would have black in all of the paths and not just the 2.
Thanks.

It's the reversion from secondary passages.  Notice, it's always in the secondary ports - the outer two.  It's the exhaust gases that get sucked up in the secondary port due to these ports opening earlier than the primaries.
