Bit of help on my 6port turbo project..

alright i was wondering i searched for awhile never found the answer i needed i am working on getting my motor rebuilt and ready for boost..and i was wondering can you swap turbo 2 rotors into a 6port 13b? and would the effect of lower compression be worth it and if it is how much work does it take to do it. sorry if i sound stupid asking this but i just wanted to know..

You can, but what would be the point? The whole point of bolting a turbo onto a 6port motor is to take advantage of both the increased airflow and the higher 9.4/9.7 compression ratios.

well i wasnt shooting for a ton of power and i thought lower compression would make it less chance to have detonation for daily driving

if your just using the stock turbo, then there isn't much of a need to put the TII rotors in it.

you are ABLE to do it, but from the sounds of it, it's not necessary for your application

You're going to need some means of tuning the car anyhow, so the fuel can be adjusted so the AFRs are still rich enough under boost.

It all depends on the wallet size really. The easier, the more expensive it seems.

im sure if you lower the comp and use the six ports your power would be more and reliable.

Power and reliability aren't dependent on the CR, more-so the wallet involved. I've ran many large turbos (GT35-42R's) on a S5 N/A stock block without blowing it up. It's all about knowing what you're doing and being prepared and tuning for it.

i have done it many times, with 3mm and 2mm 9.4 rotors
and with 9.0 and 8.5 2mm turbo rotors

- first of all, all s5 rotors and mass weights are same , NA and turbo
same as the s4 NA and turbo rotors and mass weights are the same

use them, and move them as sets !
do not mismatch s5 and s4 moving parts with one another

- as for the motors, i have settled on the turbo de- comp rotors as the best comprimise
( i also use the turbo oil pump and turbo primary plate )

these will take some pretty normal ignition timing numbers and drive like a good extend port with minimal low down losses

the 9.4 rotors on the other hand do bite very well off boost
- but have a limit around 10 psi ( on 98 RON fuel ) before you find a need to get pretty radical in your retard with boost ignition numbers
( and it becomes a pointless exercise until more octane or WI is added )

if you planning for 1 bar boost, and especially if your ignition fidelity isn't great
( a lesser ECU )
then err to the turbo 9.0 rotor s if you can get them

if you plan on more than 1 bar boost, go s4 8.5 turbo rotors

i have built and owned and tuned all of the above combos, bar the 9.7 rotors
my personal rx2 motor is currently a 6 port turbo hybrid with 9.0 rotors

PS
i also try and get s5 front and rear plates if i can , the rear is significantly stronger than s4
the front has a superior oil passage O ring design
