bigger turbo = damaged wiring harness??

I recently installed a 60-1 HiFi on my 87 TII. I'm concerned about how close the turbo is to the wiring harness. At its closest point, we're talking less than 1/4 inch!!

What is the best way to alleviate any potential problems?

I drove the car tonight, and while driving, my tach went out. Almost immediately afterwards, the car started bucking, and the lights started getting brighter and dimmer, etc. The stereo started acting weird as well. Could this have been caused by the heat buildup in the wiring harness? If not, does anyone have any other suggestions?

The car never did this BEFORE the turbo install.

well depending on the space, some people use custom made heat shields. for the wiring harness, i would go with some of that heat wrap. it comes in different diameters and goes right on the hoses.

have a pic? tell us about your setup im interested

Well, the setup I currently have is as follows.

Weapon R intake
Greddy FMIC
Garrett 60-1 Hi-Fi
3" custom DP
40mm Trust Wastegate (9psi spring, open air vented)
Apexi N1 Single
HKS EBC Gen 1 (boost controller)
HKS AIC (BRAND NEW expensive )
2 extra 460cc injectors
Greddy boost gauge
Autometer A/F gauge

I haven't even set the boost levels yet. I'm just running off the wastegate while I'm trying to stop an oil leak on the turbo flange, and do something about the harness problem.

That's it at the moment. No pics as yet. Although I just installed this stuff, I might be selling the AIC pretty soon, since I want to get a Wolf setup.

well, I bought the AIC a few months ago for $750. How about $650 shipped?

BTW, extra injectors are NOT included with that. You can use any injector (i.e. any impedance, any cc, from any car, etc).

Also, I WILL include 2 homemade injector harnesses. You'll need them to run 2 additional injectors. Let me know what you think.

I'm going to bed. I'll check back tomorrow.
