Bigger Injectors On 91 N/A?

How big (cc/min) can I go and how big of a fuel pump would I need? I am still thinking of selling my baby, I just want to see where I can get the HP before I make any drastic decisions!!

You could probably put in some 50000cc/min injectors, and pull a trailor full of gas; but you won't make any more horsepower.

Really? Then why does every fast FC i see have bigger injectors? I was under the impression that more strady fuel = **** HP? Why is this not true?

If your mods put your injectors near or above their max duty cycle then bigger injectors will give you the full potential of your motor. But if you take a stock NA and put in a T2 full pump and injectors it will run richer than bill gates and actually loose horsepower. Extra full is only needed in NAs when you have alot of mods. I have a good bit of mods and still running stock fuel, I might be in the beginning stages of the need for more fuel. Extra fuel is not a power modification, it is a modification needed as a result of power.

If I'm wrong just shoot my *** already.

Sorry, you sounded like a smart-*** in your first post!!
Anyway, should I upgrade my fuel pump at least? All I have now is a Weapon R intake, but over X-Mas break, TB mod, match-port upper maifold, Apex N1 dual exhaust, straight pipe exhaust, removing A/C, air pump, P/S, and BAC. Mabye NOS is Santa-Mom is feeling generous! Would this be cool to run on stock fuel? Thanks man!

If your running NOS then YES more fuel would maybe save you a rebuild. Without the NOS you could probably run stock fuel and be safe. Running a lil lean in a NA is not to dangerous. If you got the dough then get the T2 injectors and run the stock pump. You are better off running the pump a lil harder than running the injectors at max duty.

Oh Yeah, I WAS being a smart *** in my first reply. My computer is being a dick today and I needed to vent. Sorry you had to be the victim.

I own a 88 Turbo II, however my first rX was a 86 non turbo. I don not recommend going with bigger injectors with the N/A unless your doing something drastic like NOS, supercharger. I personally found the best set up with my N/A was Header to pre-silencer to good exhaust out the back, and a free flowing intake. I also played with modifing the stock airflow meter(which really is not recommended). I did find minor gains out of adjusting the airflow meter. I also ended up putting 550cc in the secondaries which was a big mistake. To much fuel.

I would recommend trying a apexi-SAFC on your N/A, it will allow you to tune a little extra fuel, but not to much out of your stock fuel system.

I strongly advise investing the ten or so bucks, and buy both the Mazdatrix and the Racing Beat catalogs. They are not just parts lists. There you will find information on how to modify your rx7 and what part to use. Its not a bullshit catalog. Personaly the best thing you can do for that NA is to buy the Racing Beat dual exaust system. Its seperate exaust passage for each rotor. Its the largest gain you can get out of your n/a without supercharging or putting a turbo on. Exaust first, everything else secondary and in my opinion that especially applies to the K and N type filters(too much for way too little). Don't do one of those half way measures and buy some cheapo exaust system. Do the dual exaust from head to toe. Signed: Opinionated in Texas.

Do the exaust right. Don't do the paceshiter exaust, you will be sorry. After that do the rest of the mods, and you'll be putting down some good hp. With all my mods in my sig, i'm still using the stock injectors. They where just cleaned about 4k miles ago. Under full throttle in any gear on a cool night, my mixture meter reads 2 bars yellow, and one green. On a warm day, it reads 2 green, 1 yellow. Its not %100 accurate, but its just an general idea. So I think i'm still pretty safe, and remember, it takes alot on a n/a to nuke the motor from being lean. They're pretty forgiving. Its just the turbo motors you have to be carefull with. CJ
