Exclamation big problem..car wont turn over

ok its winter on ohio and due to my beater bein immobolized i hadda drive the 7 this morning.. ok i was driving and everytime id tap the gas or left off the gas the rpms would drop and about 3000 and about stall.. so i kept driving hoping itd quit acting up once the car was warm.. but instead the car stalled the next time and now the car wont even turn over.. i turn the key and the fan moves and the motor shakes like normal but the rpm gauge is steady (normally itll move a little bit) and the car wont turn over.. i tried jumping it after it went dead but still the rpm stayed steady and wont turn over.. its sounding like the rpm thing is in the tps but i dont know what the not starting thing is all about.. starter maybe??? please help...

thanks for any suggestions,
Tim

i need a bit more explanation, you said the motor was shaking like normal - what do you mean by that? and by it wouldn't turn over do you mean it wouldn't fire?
you need to know is it getting fuel? is there spark? is there compression? answer those and we'll go from there

if it was super cold the day it stalled it might even be something stupid like water in you gas, get some methyl-hydrate and pour it in, let her sit for a while then try firing with a fresh battery (once you have the basics mentioned before)

check your EGI and all other fuses, but pay close attention to the EGI fuse, maybe even pull it out and plug it back in to be sure it is seated properly.

the methyl hydrate just changes the chemical composition of the water enough to make it burnable with the gas its surrounded by it wont hurt anything, the rpm drop off problem you mention is the same problem that is preventing the car from starting back up, the suggestions Karack and I have given you are some of the possible problems

nope, sounds like your CAS, main relay or EGI circuit is having trouble. as i said the quickest and easiest point to check first would be your EGI fuse. with a problem in any of those cirucuits your tach won't bounce when you are cranking indicating you have no spark or fuel if that is the case.

you should also have a full charge on the battery, if the battery is low your cranking will be slow and possibly not enough voltage to bring your electronics online.

if your alternator is spiking it could cause all kinds of wierd problems, possibly even fried components. but first be sure that the battery has a full charge.
