Big power goals. Any loose ends?

Hey dudes! Some of you might remember me posting from a few years ago. Blew up my FC (cracked wg line and overboost ) but it's kind of a sign from the gods. Car is an 87 t2 so this will give me a chance to ditch some of the weak spots of an s4 motor. Since this happened I've decided to push more power on the next build.

Previous build:
large streetport
720cc/1600cc injectors
walbro 255, aeromotive fpr and parallel fuel setup.
w/m injection
haltech e6k
BW s360
act 6puck clutch and 9lb flywheel

Now that I want to push 450 whp with ability to crank it to 500 on occasion. I've decided to upgrade a few things. Got a thick cast s5 rear iron, and a turblown stud kit. Rotating assembly will also be sent off for balancing.

New build:
half bridge (mostly just want the braps)
s5 thick cast rear iron
turblown stud kit
720cc/1600cc injectors
walbro 255, aeromotive fpr and parallel fuel setup.
w/m injection
haltech sprint RE
BW s360
act 6puck clutch and 9lb flywheel

Anything else I should address to reach my power goals and have maximum durability? Hardened stat gears? Rotor clearancing?

I'm all ears guys so let me know your thoughts. I don't need overkill but I want something that'll last. Can't wait to have this thing back on the road!

I had the same set-up and you will want more fuel pump than the Walbro 255HP. I used a Bosch '044 Motorsports, but there are other options now that can flow well at high pressures.

I would recommend straight water injection as well. Not as a way to push more boost, but just to come on above ~8psi for a little extra cooling/longevity out of the motor.

If you put a CDI ignition box on your Leading coils it will make it easier to tune rich without bogging and the bridge is going to like being rich at low loads (exhaust dilution of intake).

Thank Blue TII! Noted about the fuel pump. Will definitely upgrade. I've heard good things about the Bosch 044 so that'll probably be the pick.

And I forgot to mention I'm also running a Jacobs FC1000.

I'd ditch the Jacobs and go with the AEM Coil setup.

If you're planning on revving drill out your oil galleries (7/16) and supply oil to the front rotor/iron from (3/8) the pedestal. Also clean up any hard edges in the oil system.

Start collecting transmissions. At 500, they don't last long.

If you really are chasing maximum reliability I'd consider stepping up to a nicer ECU than the Sprint which should have more safety monitors.

Please provide more details on the turbo, intercooler, etc you are planning. Like what turbine housing? S360 is probably on the small side for 500whp unless you run a lot of boost.

Check out the single turbo section of this forum.

that power came with stock ports, fd3s UIM, HRC performance 340lph in-tank pump, big intercooler and turbo @ 0.9bar easily worked fine, but the guy was afraid something breaks, so they opened it and everything was as it should.
Now the engine has s5 t2 front and rear iron, streetport, 5 thicker tension bolts and a lil bit smaller turbo and makes the same power on lower boost (500whp)
No reliability problems.

Y, I agree. I upgraded from a sprint re to an elite 1500. The engine protections alone make it well worth it.
