Nick attached a tube running from the cold air box to the front bumper... a custom ram-air type thing.

 

Sorry, that's the ducting for the cold air.
It goes from the front of the car to the cold air box.
The pic is taken from the passenger wheel well looking forward. The rectangular black plastic thing at the bottom is the brake duct. In the 3rd and 4th pics you can see where the PVC ducting meets the box (the hole in the box).

 

Nick, I absolutly love your cold air box. I am SO close to doing that on my car but I am worried about the washer resoivoir. Again your set up is awesome.

 

i was thinkmore of a headlight scoop, i kinda like that idea too, maybe ill do bouth

 

The problem with the headlight scoop is that it is pretty expensive and doesnt really flow that much air.

 

Yeah Nick, I have to say I like your setup better... although I would make an actual top for it though, and try to make it out of carbon fiber... Think about marketing it man!

 

Well, J-Rat mine was a test of my glassing skills.
I/you could make one out of Sheet metal for a quarter the price. The fiber glass gets freakin hot after a good drive. I need to find some insulation foam or something to help keep heat out.

I didn't want to cut my car. You and me could probably get away with relocating/ditching the washer resevior due to where we are. That would give much better results.

Mine does not cover the bottom completely so I could still make a ducting down there too.

 

Thanks for the compliments! I really wanted to avoid a ghetto-setup, so I took the extra time to make it properly.

The box seals with foam rubber to the hood, so a lid wasn't necessary.

When I made it I had free reign at a metal shop, so the aluminum was free - and I had it welded for free as well! Now I don't have that luxury any more, so making them for sale isn't really an option. Carbon fibre would be neat, but really expensive. If I had free access to it however, I might be tempted to make one. That being said, now that this one is made, I have other things on my car that I would rather focus my attention on than making another box!

 

I have already decided to ditch the washer resevoir, but I have absolutely zero skills on fabbing stuff.

I guess this is going to be the time to learn.

I like your plumbing-does it work? Has the performance been stronger with vs without the box? Have you measured temperatures?

actually my headlight cover was free home made of course but its awesome. wider than my friends bonez headlight cover and actually has a peice that goes down and one that goes up....mine actually makes a noticable difference!! dosn't matter though since i plan to use the stock "ram air" tube on a sealed type air box and hope fully it will have a bottom hole too, but i was gonna use dryer hose.
