Header and presilencer.

(I don't particularly care for anything that says Bönez on it)...

I have a friend who has the Bonez racepipe on his 90, and he loves it! I just read all of the fine print about the header/presilencer setup. Racing Beat reccomends for a fuel injected car, running the stock exhaust manifold, and using their cat-replacement pipe(i.e. a racepipe!) They reccomend the header combo for carboreated engines only? This is why I ask:Which do I use? I have no intent of getting rid of my EFI!!!!!

I think you are mistaken. Racing Beat recommends any of their products. Look at my signature and you will see that I run a header and pre-silencer.

Just buy it and be happy you never touched the Bonez crap.

"For optimum performance gains for this application, we recommend that a header be used on an engine configured with a carburetor intake system. For this reason, we suggest another suitable configuration for use on a fuel-injected engine is the Racing Beat Catalytic Converter Replacement Pipe with Presilencer combo. These components offer comparable performance gains, quieter performance and a price advantage as compared with the header/presilencer combination. These components replace only the stock exhaust components located between the stock exhaust manifold and the Y-pipe."

stock exhaust manifold is just too restrictive and heavy.....u will get better flow and save some serious weight

"For optimum performance gains for this application", meaning a carb will make even more power. Running it with EFI will still give more power than Bönez ****.

Hmmm. I still have not heard any bad things about the Bonez products, and I really trust Rotary Performance. I have nothing but good things from folks who have had major work done there or products bought there. However, Racing Beat is the **** as far as rotary technology is concerned! Here is what I am thinking, RB header, cutom fab connector pipe to attach to cat-back. Sound good/cost effective?

RP may be a great place to get work done, but I still stand by my opinions that Bonez is not a great product. There are better product out there with comparable prices

In regards to your RB header/ghetto pipe, I think it sounds cheap since the pre silencer will be more quite, give a better tone and fit better, didn't you say that price is not a concern... just bite the bullet and buy the damn RB setup. you won't be disappointed with it.

Sound really does not matter either. I am a purist! All that matters is performance! I will, of course, get custom made stainless steel for my "ghetto" presilencer. I really think that $200 for a damn piece of pipe is a little steep! Hell, it is basically the same price as the header!!!!

A purist in what sense? If you were a rotary performance purist, you wouldn't even have considered the Bonez system in the first place. $200 is reasonable for what you are buying, a pre-muffler that makes the exhaust noise/tone tolerable and does not sacrifice HP. The quality is top notch and the sound is even better. If you were a purist as you say, you WOULD care about how your car sounds, sometimes a header and certain muffler combinations can make the rotary sound like a weed whacker on steroids, which to say the lease is not the best sound out there.

"Go buy a Lexus." This is my usual response. Sound does not matter. Looks do not matter. All that matters is performance. What I have intended to be a simple question, has once again, become a flame war. I will get the header. I will get a custom racepipe. I will be happy with it. No one will rain on my parade.

Get the RB header/pre sil combo or some kind of a header at least, a header is a nice performance gain over the stock manifold, its restrictive and HEAVY

Cool. I will order the header tomorrow, paycheck allowed. Looks like I have to put off the fire extinguisher, sealtbelt pads, new shifter boot, and new pedals so I can buy the header and the custom midpipe! I should have my cat-back as well by the end of March!

Dude, you need to learn the definition of a flame.... Someone stating their differing opinion is no flame.

Click "Add to cart" to order something....

No add to cart area! Apparently Rotary Performnce sells RB stuff, but they do not list any on their web-site, so I guess I will give em a call! Too bad I have to pay tax since I live in Tx!
