Best way to add a amp wire

i was wondering where the best place to run a power wire for an amp its 4 gage and was wondering if i could use an existing gromit or would have to drill my own hole and if i have to drill where on the drivers side door would be a safe place to tap into the firewall

Drill into Firewall and rubber grommet in the hole to protect the metal edges from the wire covering.

I would use one of the holes already drilled or drill really close to it if you can't fit it inside a previous hole. You don't want to drill just anywhere.

Yeh true I might have to pull my dash apart to look for a place or just take a better look at it when there's a lot more light out

Here's how I ran the main battery cable when the battery moved into the cabin.
Same project, just a different sized wire:

Beneath the clutch master cylinder is an oval hole already stamped in the sheetmetal.
You then have a straight shot into the footwell, very close to the stock fusebox:

From there you can run to wherever the amp will be placed.

Can't recall.
There might be some insulation there but I don't remember anything major.

I think you'll want to be inside anyway.
To access that area you need to pull the wheel and remove the fenderliner.

You can run it through that main harness grommet. It's tight with 4 gauge but that's what I did.

Be careful not to cut any wires and be sure to seal the grommet back up.

I use this at work on a daily basis and is what I used on my car.

3M Strip Calk 08578

You can use plain 'ole silicone but it looks nasty.

This!

I cut a hole on the engine harness grommet, and ran the wire through it.

whoa! I just wanted a lil bit o' bump, 800w amp and 1 12in sub....which I will eventually downgrade to a 10in sub, but I used stuff that my room mate had laying around from her old car that she never used.
