Slip the clutch at 4000 off the line and shift at 6500

This works for me.... For others it may be different

Mods inlude - Intake - KYB struts/shocks on stock springs - strut tower brace

Redline is a good idea.

Just practice launching your car on the street, and try different rpms and releasing techniques.

I personaly like to slip (let it out slower) the clutch for more controll over wheel spin... some people may like to just dump the clutch... I preffer slipping... But it all depends on your tires/wheels - suspension - HP - Many factors to take in... but since your stock you should be ok with what i suggested... If you can just go practice and see what feels best for you

I slip the clutch too, I think my tires aren't just right for the weight of my RX because if I pop the cluch my wheels spin like crazy and fishtail as I go. I like to shift at high rpms in lower gears and keep lower rpms when I'm crusing. If my RX is like my other car, lower rpms save on gas.

if you wanna launch, i wouldn't do it at 4000k... 5200 would be great and i usually shift at redline.

when i do that i usually end up at 5000-5200, right where you want to be.

mods are in the sig...

Shift at 6500??? The engine doesn't even reach peak power until 6800. I shift at redline. It's not like I'll bend a valve or throw a bearing...

alright,

but can u guys explain to me what exactly is involved in slipping and dumping the clutch? how is it done? and 1 other thing, shifting at redline? or even lets say above 6000 seems ( by noise and feel) to be rather "violent" to the car. I understand you dont have to worry about fuckingup the engine but what aboutthe tranny/
?

slip-slowly letting out the clutch with the throttle at desired rpms

dump-just taking letting the clutch go with throttle at desired rpms.

im afraid the dump will **** my tranny up. its already raped too, after me AND my sister learning stick in it (well her trying, and raping it).

so/??

sorry for all these noob questions.
from a dead start i can should rev the car up to 6000 or redline and then slowly "slip" off the clutch for the best launching? would this not bog the car aside from being horrible for the clutch and tranny?
sorry again, i want to improve me holeshot and shifting.
again, stock n/a s4 vert

If you drive a S4 with a 7000rpm redline, shift at 7. If you drive an S5 with a 8000rpm redline shift at 8.

Youre not really making any extra power up there unless you have some decent mods.

i'd recomend slipping the clutch, shifting at 6.5 1-2, then red line after that.

Slip the clutch at 4000 and shift at 6500... that seems to be the norm with everyone that posted... now go practice

You'll get better times if you drop the clutch between 5k-6k. You'll also tear **** up a lot quicker and if you have crappy tires you'll get a ton of wheel spin

Damn son, just go outside and TRY IT!!!

I didn't have anybody to teach me how to drive a stick, how to launch, any of that ****. Know what I did? I went outside, hopped in my car, drove to a parking lot and had fun.

Normally I'll rev to 4750 or 5000, do a semi clutch slip (to give you an idea of how fast, from start to finish... about .8 seconds...)

Once my clutch is fully let off, I take 1st gear to about 6500 or so.
2nd gear to 7200
3rd to 7200
4th have yet to red-line...

Oh, and I have a S5 car, but it has a S4 engine (7K RPM redline)

make sure you'r car isplenty warm before you do any of this, I say dump/slip at 5500 RPM, then just redline all through the gears, now quit asking and go try.........
