I've done this with 3 cars of mine now, haven't gotten around to doing it with my S5 TurboII.. but go to Pep Boys and buy their "racing pedals" (the ones with the 4 "latches" on the back to attach them, they work great) for $20. Best pedals I've ever had and they're cheap.

how tall are you? the way i heal-toe my car is by pressing on the brake and swinging my ankle out to the right and hitting the gas with the side of my foot. It works great!

I use momo pedals - great too. I learned to heal - and - toe off them as well. They're fairly comfortable.

Take a look:

hehe I have nice fat feet, plus I got some blue ricey pedals on there from when I bought the car, but I just set my foot in between the brake and gas and tilt foot to either side , never could get that actual heel toe thing!

If your that tall, your shoes should be kind of wide. I just use my foot as a bridge between the brake and gas and apply pressure as necessary. No need to put my leg in all kinds of wierd positions, just movement of the ankle.

How do you like the set of pedals?? I'm thinking about putting them in my car after I get the engine rebuilt...

Rolling your ankel over to hit the gas = gay american lazy way.

Using your toe for the gas and your heel for the break = the correct japanese way. Hense the name "heel-toe"

I think you got it wrong. Look at this link. It shows you how the pros do it. This is why they have a extension on the bottom left hand side of the gas pedal, so that your heel can hit it easier! THAT'S THE AMERICAN WAY!!

I don't have it wrong, we both have it right. What the above poeple are talking about is hitting the brake and the gas with their toe. The link shows the correct way, hitting the brake w/ toe and gas w/ heel.

But Barwick is right, it doesn't really matter how the other lazy people do it.

ya but my problem is the very bottom of the steering wheel gets into my way> im not able to turn my foot in that type of angle to get my heal anywhere close to the gas. If i could find a wheel the size of my wheel with the bottom squared off about an inch or 2 then maybe id be in business. Ive seen those types of steering wheels before. But i dont know about the size. And how much harder they make everyday driving.

The "correct" japanese way? PLEASE tell me you are just kidding.

I saw on a cartoon once where a AE86 beat up on a Lancer EVO, I also saw one where people from mars came to earth. Dude, there is NO right or wrong way to "toe & heel" If you can use your big *gay* american feet to bridge the gap between the pedals, do it. If you have to disloate your hip to get your six 7 New Ballance Akina Allstars racer aditions to make contact with both pedals, do it. Just like it was said, doesn't matter how you get it done, as long as the chassis doesn't buck when you are in doing it.

As for the pep-boys SPL clip on pedal covers, you get what you pay for. I am running a set of Mo-mo grip alum pedals. They way about as much as half a box of paperclips, and have awesome grip (diamond plate) I picked them up for $14.00 off ebay, brand new. All they take is a simple removal of the rubber pand, and drilling the pedals. When you install them, YOU get to decide where they ride on the pedals. I have mine set so there is less then 1/4" between the gas and the brake, aids in my lazy american approch to racing. (funny, instructors at Skip Barber didn't say anything was wrong with my method)

Clamp on pedals = cheep crap, that will fall apart when you need them most

bolt on pedals = takes a bit more effort to mount them, but once they are there, they will not fail.

What are you trying to prove here? That you're too immature to post a meaningful response to a serious question/topic? If so, congratulations. You have proven yourself with flying colors. It's funny, you can always pick out the "kids" that have no real experience (TV doesn't count) and don't know when to keep their mouthes shut.

Oh yeah, and its Toe on the break, Heel on the gas. You'd need some funky pedals to do it your way, or maybe you have a double jointed knee or hip or something. You can look at the pedals and figure out where your toes and heel go. It's explained step by step here: http://www.turnfast.com/tech_driving..._heeltoe.lasso so next time you watch initial D you can understand what the driver is doing .

Oh and Turbo23, I totally understand where you're coming from. Even with the seat all the way back, I can't heel-toe it very well either with my height and long legs. I'm thinking that a set of those custom made pedals might help though since they've got that extra wide bottom lip. Either that or a set like Corprin was mentioning where you can mount the pedals where you want them.

damn you guys get pissy quick. if he thinks he's the bomb when it comes to heel-toe then who gives a ****. he didn't insult your momma. and don't you think you could buy your own damn screws and screw the pepboy's pedals on? and if you want to watch good footwork, watch the wrc pedal cams. those guys know how to dance.

I've been watching a lot of WRC lately and they seem to be showing less and less in car and pedal views.
