the best is proably the apexi with 30sec playback. but they are like $400us a gauge. the greddy P/H ones are very nice too. like $200 or so a gauge.

Cyberdyne (now Nordskog) gauges rock. I have a A/F and water temp, and they were $45 a peice. And yes, they are both digital.

You really get what you pay for. To compliment the stock gauges (orange) I would go with some HKS ones but those are expensive too.

I've got Autometer Phantom gauges in my TII, the orange display matches the stock gauges very well except the faces are white, not black. Boost and A/F in the A-Pillar, and I am relocating my logicon so I can put oil pressure & water temp above my radio. I bought everything from Summitracing.

You do get what you pay for, but if I pay $200 for a gauge, it had better make my car fly...

First you asked for "BEST", and then you complain about cost?&nbsp Most of the time "best" and "cheapest" are mutually exclusive.

I'm sorry but Autometer gauges are garbage...talk about horrible back lighting you need to shine a flashlight on it at night to see it, and then theres needle flutter...sure is nice to know how much boost your running . This is where you get what you pay for. Heck I'm not concerned about the car "flying" but getting the right information all the time is good...ya think? As far as looks are concerned, the guage that most matched the interior of our cars was SPI, unfortunately SPI is now DEFI. Defi makes nice guages but IMO they don't match the interior of an RX7 at all. So if you want a guage that is similar then you should look at Omori guages. They come in black or white faces and you can customer order the color of the back light and color of the needle. The down side is that you can only customer order the metric guages not American. Oh yeah they're not cheap...Sorry

Yeah they are great gauges but they don't match. In fact alot of the new gauges don't match. It seems to be getting alot harder to find a qaulity guage that matches you know like an OEM gauge.

i have autometer guages and have no problem with them. Backlighting is not a match to the orange but neither are most cd players or the S-AFC. Also the Auto meter monster tach i have is more accurate the the stock. Assuming that the S-AFC which is plugged into the ecu is correct, the autometer is right and the stock is roughly 300rpm too high

What do you guys think about the blitz gauges?

I'm trying to find a nice 52mm gauge for my pillar mount pod ... not having any luck. I want the peak hold feature that greddy has ... but it's only on the 60mm ... i doubt i could make that gauge fit in a 52mm pod.

any help would be nice

Just curious but if Autometer sucks so bad why do you see them in so many race cars?

I like the SPA gauges. The new dual gauges are selectable between red and green backlighting for all you show car types. Yes, they are expensive, but not if you consider that each gauge is really two gauges, plus two programmable warning lights, plus two programmable outputs. Also, I really like the SPA tachometers (tach/speedo reads up to 999mph, hehehe) which are programmable in-dash for tire size changes, come with a 0-60 and 1/4mi timer, and have programmable shift lights.

I like the R1 Gauges. I am going to get it but I'm thinking of changing my mind & getting the S-AFC (probably more accurate & they gain HP).

You know, ive overlooked these so many times, when in fact, theyre everything I want. I just wish I could see the speedo/tach combo. These would be perfect for my custom dash, and the red would be pretty close to the stock color, and all other interior lights. The fact they have a speedo, and a tach, along with the other standard gauges, makes them the other choice in my search for a FULL gauge set. Definately ahead of Autometer. Between the two I pick SPA.

I could not speak of race cars but, I've seen them in plently of cars on the street. I"ve installed a few with pure disappointment. A buddy of mine just installed a set in his 300ZX TT. When they arrived I asked him what he did. He said what alot of people say I could not see myself spending the kind of money the gauge manfacturers are charging. I told him to take them back and he didn't listen. Lets just say he wanted blue back lighting to match his interior and guess what you can barely read the gauge. He had to take the blue booty off (now orange) and install hyper white bulbs to be able to see it.
Listen I know these gauges can get expensive (non-autometer) but you really do get what you pay for. I would not want to skimp where the information provided by a gauge can really paint a picture of how your car is really running.

The black gauge below is the tach/speedo. The speedo is the digital display. I'm not sure if the tachs come with the red lighting, although you would think that they would in order to match the dual gauges, so it would be a good idea to check with SPA. There is no comparison between the SPA and Autometer gauges. I think that the SPA gauges are more comparable to the DEFI gauges, which were my second choice for the 20B car.

That's usually true. Most people don't realize that there are different quality levels in the Autometer line. The Pro-Comp series (Pro-Comp, Ultra-Lite, and Carbon Fiber) are of much higher quality than the other gauges that they sell.
