Best gas mileage ever

I just got my best ever gas mileage.

147 miles on 5.6 gallons of gas with 1.5 ounces TCW-3 per gallon. This got me a total of 26.25 MPG with 8 miles being on Interstate and 22 miles in city per day!

I was getting around 18 MPG with 1 ounce of oil..I added .5 more and got 8 mpg better.. This is on a 13B N/A, 142,000 miles

I got around 20 mpg with mostly city driving. On the highway I could get 25mpg, but never higher.

It's possible. My 91 vert has a range of about 430 hignway miles on a full tank.

I noticed the S5 cars consistently are getting way more MPG than S4 cars. I am also seeing the Vert S5's are very high MPG..why is this? the Verts are the heaviest model out there... are you guys automatics?

Do you think there is a reason S5's get better MPG? Is it the AFM design?

I have an AFC tuned for it, that's my explanation.

Even with the O2 sensor on, I had 24 mpg.....I should get a bit more now that I took the O2 sensor off.

On my 88 TII, with Rtek 1.7, 720cc secondaries, RB NONTURBO catback, Magnaflow highflow cat, stock DP, AEM Filter w/"cold" air box. I got 26.8MPG on the highway, a 368 mile trip with hills going between 60-75MPH.

Since I had the engine rebuilt and street ported by Kevin Landers, I haven't been on any highway trips. But around town, back and forth to work 19 miles each way, I get 22MPG if I can avoid boost. And this is with REGULAR gas, since I'm only running stock boost.

I figure that I'm doing good with this considering the original EPA ratings from www.fueleconomy.gov are:

City 17MPG
HWY 23MPG

In any case, I have replaced the 7 as my daily driver with a $500 beater Festiva that gets 44MPG Now I can finally keep some miles off the RX-7.

really?

when i did my X country trip a few weeks ago i was able to get 27 mile to the gallon, that could have been due to my 68 mph speed being held for 4 hours at a time tho...

that's because S5 have a higher compression ratio.

higher compression ratio = better engine efficiency = better MPG

Ideally a high compression turbo motor would yield you best MPG if you could stay off the boost when it wasn't needed.

I rode an 18 wheelers *** for a few hours on an interstate and got 26 mpg. But I only used 1/3 a tank so I can't really brag about it.

I always got the best gas millage with half tanks. 180-200 miles on 8 gallons of fuel worked for me every time. If I filled the car I would only get about 300 miles or so.

I got 45 mpg the other week when I towed the RX7 on a trailer for 160 miles, using my trusty Peugeot 306 turbo Diesel.

I can get over 3 times the distance on the same amount of fuel normally using the PUG over the RX7. I'm thinking LPG could be the way forward with the RX7 with fuel prices over here.
