there is no best. it is always a compromise between sound and power.
and even after you have decided how much you want to compromise on each one, the best exhaust will most often be custom. and i mean custom header/downpipe, expansion chamber, etc. then you can use whatever muffler you want.

with NA there is a lot more theory involved. for a turbo, the turbo itself negates any exhaust tuning. so then you are just left with flow vs. amount of sound.

i guess its simple for me then, since i care more about power then sound.
consider i use to drive a z28 with straight pipe, no cat no mufflers haha that thing was loud, and i never got stopped by cops.
i guess i only really have one question then, single or dual outlet? does it make that much of a positive difference to have dual outlets or is the weight not worth it? i guess its the answer that will determine rb or custom.

well this isnt a v8, so maybe when you get to a certain amount of db it'll just become noise. so the rb can be quiet when your not flooring it? maybe thats another positive thing about that system. im really leaning towards that, but is there anyone happy with their apex'i exaust?

I had an '87 TII and installed the Racing Beat system with down pipe to replace the cat. It was louder, but sounded pretty good. I was able to sneak home late at night by taking it easy and keeping my foot out of it as I neared my house. there was a huge difference in acceleration. It felt like I had been driving until then with the E-Brake half on. I think RB claimed a 33% increase in HP. I couldn't say yes or no, but I felt it was good return for the money.
One thing I did notice was when driving with the sunroof open I could smell the exhaust, and I had never before installing that system. I suppose it was because the cat had been removed, and there was more unburnt fuel in the exhaust. My car didn't have a spoiler, which may have made a difference.
Would I have that exhaust system again on a TII? Abso-f___ing-lutely.
