Yo,

What exactly is "power shifting"? I drove with someone in a Civic SI that was supposedly "power shifting" and I couldn't believe how violent/scary/dumb it was.

Here's what I do:

1. Lift
2. Put clutch in
3. Change gears
4. Let clutch out
5. Step on gas

You don't lift? Or what?

Basically you don't lift off the gas. The downside is that it doesn't give the synchros time to do their job. Its all cool on the old muscle cars that have the Rockcrusher M22 4 speed, but not on a Mazda 5 speed with its glass internals...

Why use a clutch? Just slam the shifter from gear to gear like a motorcycle! Now that's MAD quick!!!!

my friend did this with his integra for awhile, and now he grinds second gear half the time (messed up syncros) I am glad I didn't have my 7 then or I would have done it too. What do you mean the best clutch for powershifting? You don't use a clutch when you powershift!

He means a clutch that has the power to grab at that high of rpms so he wont slip and so the clutch has a shorter throw meaning he wont have to mess up the tranz if he does it fast enough. A short shifter is a must as well.

A good clutch would be anything that fits in a car other than the 2nd gen. So, sell your car to someone who's not going to destroy the tranny banging the gears or blow the motor missing a mad-quick-yo-shift, and buy something else that won't break our hearts when it's destroyed.

"I've seen the way you shift, kid. You're gonna blow yourself up"

Stock clutch. A stronger clutch will probably break stuff...

You'll be too busy replacing busted synchros to worry about fixing ''other stuff''....
