Question Beside welding, quick fix for cat split?

Got to run my 90 n/a in for a smog today, and noticed a small leak on the seam of the main cat. Is there some "JB Weld" type of stuff I can use for a quick fix? I'm short on cash, and I know this will cause an issue with my smog in California.

Thanks for the advice!

You by chance know how long it will take to set up with JB weld? Will the heat double or triple the dry time? Kinda stupid when it comes to gluing metal!

JB weld won't stand up to the heat. You need muffler and tailpipe leak sealer

It comes in a tube that looks like this:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002JM8PO/...O&linkCode=asn
but there are several brands, Its about 2 bucks from any auto parts store.

Its sets in about 10 hrs (the tube says overnight) and it will hold up for at least a few months.

Actually...I don't think it'll matter much.

My buddies car passed smog no issue, even though his mechanic told him his main cat/pipe gasket area was leaking a bit. Unless you can smell exhaust fumes real badly, the tailpipe sniffer won't pick up the leak, it only measures what's coming out the back, no?
