belt keeps comin loose..whats up with that?

belt keeps comin loose..whats up with that?

my alternator belt keeps comin loose..should i use a lock washer or something..i cant figure out why

yeah try a lock washer.

i guess they could be..i have 1000 miles on a rebuild with new belts.. this is the third or 4th time its happened tho.

might i suggest to just drill the threads out of the alternator and just put a steel nut and bolt on it. i no how scary it can be using steel bolts that thread into aluminum

If his threads are stripped he should drill, tap, and helicoil them. Throwing a nut and bolt just screams shady-tree mechanic....

did you make sure both bolts are tight enough, if the lower bolt is loose it will be easier for the top one to slip

well today i stripped it while trying to tighten it once more...i guess im gonna drill it out now

The bottom bolt should have a spacer on it. Make sure the spacer is on the rear, not on the front side of alternator.
