What happened with the "middle" motor? Is the last pic with the FMIC the "middle" step? Why did you switch to V8?

You know I was skeptical I have not put it on a wide band before or after but I am really happy with the way it is working out. The same amount of air is passing through it as before the turbo. The turbo can’t magically create air if you think about it. It took a little work gave me allot of room for a TID and I can vent my BOV before the AFM without getting a rich shot. Personally I think the car runs better now then it did in its old location venting. Turbo spool is louder and gave me 4 extra PSI over stock TID.

I would tell you why I swapped to a V8, but it would only cause a flame war.

The middle motor was put in a box and shipped to some guy in Cali, and out of 3 RX7's I enjoy this one the most so far, I was scared I wouldn't like the swap before I did it, but I am VERY glad I did.

And yes the last picture is when the car still had a rotary in it, but its mostly just to show the wheels, though I did have both the V8 and a FMIC still on it till I sold the intercooler. If I have it my way the car will not be without boost for long

^^ That is one of the cleanest V-8 swaps ive seen. I just dont think i could do it to my TII. That kinda kills the value of the car doesnt it? That was the plan for my GXL (v8 swap) because its not a rare car. But i dont think i could ever do that to my TII.

I have seen V8 swapped cars sell for as much or more than normal rotary cars. This really isnt the place to argue the merit or lack of the V8 cars though, I just wanted to post my pictures and not cause to much of a problem.

Thanks for the compliment!

I've seen too many S5 TIIs fucked up and being sold for parts. That was the pinnacle of the 2nd gen (at least in the states) and it's so sad to see them get messed up.

That V8 swap is really clean and I bet that thing hauls though.

BTW, where in the midwest are you?

Thanks again. I am hoping to take the car to a track day on Roebling Road in Savanna, GA in October. Ill be able to see how it competes against some rotary and other V8 RX7s I hope.

Oh yeah, im sure that v8 is WAY faster than my TII will ever be. I just know that there arent many S5 TII's around so I dont wanna do any drastic changes to mine.

Your V8 swap does look awesome though. I wasnt trying to **** on your car.

URizen, im in Kansas

Oh for sure, I just don't want to get this into a V8 thread. To tell the truth if the car didnt have the V8 in it, it would have been parted out and the 80k mile chassis junked...

My rotary setup would have been a good rival for the V8 setup (without the bottle), you can easily build a rotary TII to be faster than my car. My motor is very mildly modified (GM factory performance cam kit ~ 340rwhp and 340ftlbs).

I know why I would...easy power, 30mpg, stupid aftermarket, and isn't known for throwing apex seals.

beautiful car.

When it was dual I had a dual 2.5" catback made that was mated to 2 ebay (yes I know ) BOMZ GT spec muffler, 2.5" in 4.5" tips. The 4.5" tips filled up the cutout in the bumper perfectly, which is why I measured ahead of time to figure it out.

Now I have a CS single catback.

Heres my 91 with 108k on the body. Motor was done by Pineapple Racing and all the work was done by my hands. I am very proud to be driving a car I built from the ground up basically, since she didnt run when I took her home. What do ya think? And yes...its mostly a track car
