Battery wires

Where do the wires that come off the positive and negative terminals lead to? I need to get new terminals on the wire side and was thinking of using brand new 4awg wire while doing it.

easiest way to know is follow them, get a bright light and just look. ill give you a hint.. the big positve one goes to the starter located on the bottom drivers side on the tranny bell housing. its acctually alot easier than you think! also look up a regrounding mod. its more a preventative measure, but it does a little more than what your planning. http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/ has a great write-up on excatly whats needed.

Thanks for the link, Ill look into doing that. Im trying to figure out if my dimming head lights are from a 16 year old alternator or just old wiring.
