battery problem
hi i have a 90 rx7 non turbo.. my car was working fine before.. but all of a sudden the battery died so i went and got me another battery.. and a couple days after that the battery died again.. and i left it there for couple months. and i wento get a new altenator and a new battery.. and my batter gauge seems to go down a lil bit and i barely put it in yesterday.. does anyone know what the problem is
what electronic things do you have hooked up in your car? i had that happen in mine, but it only happened when i switched on my system and dvd player in my car, the guys at marvelspeed said somethin about switchin over to a higher ampage on the alternator last time i asked them.
i took out my whole system deck and amp and earlier when i drove it batter would sometimes go lower then 14 on the gauge until i rev it up.. and when i switched on the headlights.. itd go down a lil again...
The belt should be adjusted to about 1/2 inch deflection, and not overtightened (which will wear out the alt prematurely).
Anytime the voltmeter is showing less than 13.5 volts the battery is not being charged. It should be at 14.4 volts 99% of the time if you have a good working alt.
