battery dead all the time..

ok so my battery has been dieing on me alot.
i already have a new alternator on the car. so thats not the problem.
also i know how a car reacts when an alternator goes bad.

i also get the battery charged and advance said its good.

so something is draining my battery.
and i think its my cd player bc now it stays lit up even in the day time. but i havent messed with it at all. so idk why it just started out of no where.

anybody have any suggestions or tell me wtf i need to do.ha

sounds like you're right. do you have it hooked to the stock harness via an adapter or did you wire it yourself? might want to make sure that the accessory wire isn't somehow messed up now and causing it to stay on (or, what would cause the accessory wire to always be fed power? faulty ignition wiring thinking it's always on?)

hmmm...well, from the sound of it, sounds like they messed up when they hooked it up. did the problem start happening soon after you had the cd player install?

and is it just the cd player that stays on?

well i mean after i had it installed sometimes after i turned off the car the cd player would stay on but shut off like 20 secs later.

now when i drive, it isnt like the cd player stays playing. it just stays lit up.

do a current draw test at the battery with a digital multi-meter and see if you have a current draw.

I have covered it a bunch of times...

But,

Close all doors, key off, no accessories on.

You disconnect the neg battery terminal.

Set your muti-meter on Amperage (or amp) at it's highest setting (some do up to 10 amps)

Neg lead of your multi-meter to the neg battery post.

Positive lead of your multi-meter to the battery clamp that was formerly on the neg battery post.

Your meter should now say something like .035 amps or so (but anything between .070 and .010 is fine).

But if your meter is reading say .125 you probably have a light or relay active. Really anything above .070-.075 is cause for worry, and can drain your battery faster than normal.

Next step if you have a draw more than .075 or so is to start pulling fuses.

Disconnect your meter, pull a fuse and reconnect. Repeat this until you see a sizable drop back under .070 amps.

When you pull the fuse that had that sizable drop, then you start trouble shooting that circuit and figure exactly what non factory item or busted factory item is causing the problem. The wiring diagram in the FSM will help here.

But based on that the radio is staying lit when the key if off, then that is probably your problem... I would guess 99% that, that is where the issue is coming from, just because the radio should not be lit at all when the key is off.

Dude that light on is enough to drain the battery. I left my interior light on my accident and my battery died.

ok so i did the battery drain test.

and it came out to be .083

and then i was started pulling fuses.

i had the retracter fuse in the fuse place thats empty under the hood bc i had the rice lights. i pulled that fuse out and put it in its place.

and i did the test again and the reading said.

.013.

also my alternator is only charging up to 40 and not 80.

so it sounds like you have a bad retractor motor.

Next set it (current draw test again) up so that you can unplug each motor and see if you can trace it down to which one. One motor when you unplug it should have a bigger part of the draw.

i found what my problem kind of was.

the battery terminals started collecting mildew or some build up, so i just cleaned them up.
