check the battery posts, clean if necessary.

You should be seeing near 13volts when teh car is running.

Make sure your belts dont have any slack and are spinning the alternator. I had a simuliar problem when i changed my belts, had to do some adjustments and all is good

Get a new batt.

I had a really shitty battery that would start the car fine, but if I turned it off and played the radio for more than 5 min. it would completely drain the battery.

take it out and bring it to a shop and ask if they can to a "load test" (they should do this for free if they are a decent human being, it takes like 30 seconds)

its a special machine that tells you if the battery is still good. we had one at my work.

your car isnt charging the battery, check the terminals.. If they are damaged, you can cut them off and put those clamp style terminals on the wires.

When your car is running, what does the volt gauge say? if that reads low when the car is on, then could also be alternator, check to make sure its spinning and all wires are good.

Check the voltage whent he car is running, it must be over 13.5volts to charge the battery. Most cars sit around 14.4 but the RX7 seems to be lower then most. Mine used to sit around 13.7.

Then take it by autozone and have them test the charging system. They will be able to tell when the problem is or at least get pretty close.

The radio should not be playing if you have the key OFF. Sure it isn't in ACC??

That wouldn't account for the car dying in five minutes, but IS a problem if the key is OFF and the stock radio plays. Aftermarket radio???????

if there is a drain on the battery, it is most likely the result of a mistake in wiring aftermarket sound or gauges or something.

I'm with Hailers.Something is up IF the deck plays when the Key is off.If you have an aftermarket system, you should find a Switched source for the Deck,so it doesn't play Tunes when you have the key off. Also, the First "click" of the key is Accessory, and at first can Screw you up and make you think that the car is Switched off, when in fact the Car's ignition switch is on "ACC"..check that out.
and see if you can Search the words "parasitic draw" using the Search tool. That will allow you to find out how to test for Draw when the battery is off.(I'm too tired to type it!).Cheers and Good luck,.Styx.

yeah i can imagine some lazy stereo install just tapping the stereo to the constant 12+ source instead of the accessory source
