Banjo Bolt Questions

I got the Banjo bolt that I will be replacing the PD with as soon as I get all the parts I need. I am really not sure this is going to work.

Now on the Banjo bolt there is the main part of the bolt and than there is a screw that goes through the top of the bolt. The screw has two washers(one on each side of the bolt), a plastic cap and the screw is in there loose.

My question is ... Does that screw at the top of the Banjo bolt need to be tightned down before installing it? Also is there anything I need to know or do before installing the bolt?

Thanks

George

I just finished taking the upper manifold off. Wow what a mess under there. I took a bunch of Pics that I will post as soon as I can. I wish I would have just changed the PD before the engine cought on fire! ..... The fuel Lines themself did not look that bad but the PD was trashed along with many vacume hoses. Also, there are two loose wires that were simmered. One I think I know it goes to the O2 Sensor and has been broken for a while. But the Other one I have know idea where it goes. Now I might have to change the Wire harness too. Atleast I have a spare wire harness.

Anyway, first I want to figure out how the banjo bolt works.

The one I got was from Summit.

I really don't understand what you're asking - the banjo bolt shouldn't have another fastner on it, unless you got some funky brake fitting or something.&nbsp Can you get us a pic?

Here is a pic. I got the bolt from Summit. Someone posted the part# about a month ago. But now I'm thinking I got the wrong part.

The wire that you cannot find a home for. What color is it. The 02 wire should have been a gray shielded wire. Probably changed colors to a toasty brown by now. Include the color of the stripe on the wire also. No need to replace a whole harness over a couple of trashed wires. How about a picture of your injector area that was burnt.

I have been taking lots of pics ... Just have to get them developed ... Hopefully I'll have them up later today.

About the wire, I remember it being toasy brown but I'll go out later and try and find the actual color of the wires .... I took some close ups of the wires too.

BTW I remember you were interested in how my car would run with the 680 injectors. I'm gonna go with stock injectors. I heard too many people say it would run too rich. Maybe they will be a future mod.

Thanks

George

Damn, how much did that thing cost???&nbsp You guys are buying some extra parts!

What you only need is the bolt itself and maybe the two aluminum crush washers.&nbsp This is what replaces the stock PD itself...

The rest of that stuff you can't use.

Hope this helps!

RETed is right. Try installing just the bolt and the crush washers.

If you want to install the whole part, you can attach a fuel line to the red hex head portion. Then remove both your stock pd and stock fuel hose fitting on the end of the fuel rail. Then replace both pd and fuel connection with the new parts.

How did the banjo bolt / fitting installation go?

I was looking at mine today and noticed the stock crush washers are two different sizes because the surface of the hose fitting banjo is different on each end. You've got to select the crush washers carefully to make a good seal.

I'd like more info on the install of the Banjo bolt as well. Any side effects or things to watch for. I've got to put a Banjo bolt on by Bro's '87 NA monday (that is if the bolt gets here monday).

The PD is leaking so bad you can smell gas a mile away Hope it doesn't catch fire before it gets fixed.

Just put in the Banjo bolt last night. Fit just perfect. Only problem was the new fuel lines didn't want to seal up with the factory hose clamps. Appears to have no leaks now.

Interesting thing was the screw behing the plastic cap on the PD was completely out. Was just rattling around in the cap.
