Thumbs down Bah a leak..

Im wondering what type of oil leak it is-- it surfaced after I saw a little bit of smoke coming from under the car (I believe the oil drops on the exaust and the heat causes the smoke?) and after trying to tighten two bolts a little it seems to leak less. But should I go ahead and try to replace that gasket? Since its coming from the transmission I suppose I ought to have it professionally done but I just wanted opinions before I start dumping money into it:

Yeah looks like you are leaking gear oil. Better get some new gaskets.

Feel the fluid coming out and smell it to see if its engine oil or gear oil. Usually when you see oil like that from the front of the trans, its oil from the rear main seal on the engine.

If there was nothing more to it (like nothing on top of the transmission, being sprayed onto the tranny by the engine somehow) I would call it as... :drumroll:

Overfilling the transmission.

Kinda looks to me like your tranny is leaking out of every orafice... which is overfilling. But that's just a guess...

Check your fluid level. If it is correct, clean off the tranny and drive it, then check for leaks. If it is low, refill and clean, drive and check level and for leaks.

To me it looks like the case is leaking, and there are no gaskets between the bell housing, main body and tailshaft. You might want to check if the bolts are in torque specs.
