Bad water seals? [video]

Heres a video of my car starting from cold and apparently pressure being forced into the cooling system straight away. Does this mean dead water seals? Specialist here in the UK said if theres any pressure the rad cap after only 60 seconds of running it means that the water seals are dead

anything else that could cause this? maybe if the thermostat had been removed?

IMO, there are not enough bubbles to justify a shot water seal. It seems normal.

Does your car blow white smoke at high rpms?

This is happening with my car as well, my friend tells me that it could just be "burping"?

I'm pretty sure you have to wait for the car to be completely warm to tell, here is a video from when mine failed.

After taking apart the engine, this is what I found

If the bubbles never stop then you could have a small seal leak. If they stop or slow down to 1 bubble every once in a while, it's just trapped air escaping.

I hope that's not straight water I see. The coolant is shaded, so it 's hard to tell. If so, you need some kind of rust inhibitor mixed in or your system will be in big trouble. Even then I wouldn't run straight water, but w/ a rust inhibitor added it shouldn't destroy anything. Oh well your car not mine.

Start with an OEM thermostat, burp the coolant (see FAQ), then check again.

Truth be told it is a pretty weak mix as I didnt have much antifreeze to hand after it blew its existing content out the header tank.

Thanks for the advice everyone - I will see how it goes with a new thermostat. Glad that it doesnt look like its quite dead yet - if it turns out theres a problem at all
