Hmm I wonder if it could be my driveshaft/u-joints for me too (87 GXL MT), I have a similiar problem.
Mine can shudder like crazy when I get moving in 1st or Reverse after a dead-stop. Only happens after I've been driving around awhile, its no where to be seen first thing in the morning.
Had the motor and tranny mounts replaced, its not as bad as it was but its still present.

I had a driveshaft made for my car for about 100 bucks at a very reputable driveline shop locally.....
