well, it kinda goes like this: i made this bet w/ my dad. i bet him the title to my ride if i didn't get it runnin again b4 the end of this year, and local "street on the strip" racing is starting to pick up for the year. not only that, my dad said he would totally gut the car, cement it into the ground, & he would turn it into a friggin FLOWER POT!!!!! i need an engine for my 86 rx7 gxl. it doesn't have to b anything special, just inexpensive.

dude, build it yourself.
atleast tear it down and check the rotors and the housings for damage and warpage. If they are good you can buy the seals and rebuild it.

I meant do it yourself... I did mine myself (although it's to be seen whether it runs or not now), and it wasn't *that* hard (definately a learning experience though), and I've never rebuild any engines before (or even taken one out by myself).

If you can't get the cash to rebuild it within 5 months or so, I'd say you're fudged.

Is he paying for the wedding if you get it running or something? Is there a large lump of cash in it for you for fixing it so it can be moved off his property under its own power? I can't really figure why else you would make this bet. The bet isn't really hard to accomplish though. Alot of people on this forum tear down and rebuild their own engine for the first time, having never taken apart any engine before in their lives. They are succesful most often too.

Well, since 7's can run without seals... You didn't say how well you want it to run... Open it up, pull the seals, make it rich as hell and get 5 mpg until your dad accepts that you won the bet.

How will you get compression with no seals at all? You'd get horrid blowby into the next chamber, preigniting, and... yea. Ick.

You should be able to find a used but still intact motor for $400 or so. I don't have any spares or I'd sell you one.
