Bad scratch on rear rotor

My friend bought a used motor. 13b na kinda sticking when moving clockwise. Were doing the mmo trick.
found only one side with a scratch but nowhere near the apex seal.
would this cause any issue running

best thing i could think of is asking someone to compression test it at his house or take it to a shop to test

Either it ate something in its current configuration, or if there’s signs of this motor being rebuilt, perhaps it ate something in the last engine it was in.

If the rotor had damage like that, and all high spots were filed down and the seal slots in good shape, the rotor could be reused.

but being you said the engine has a hard time spinning over clockwise, I’d bet that’s damage from a recent failure.

Motor turns clockwise completely now. Sticky apex seals at first. Took a day of mmo.
should I just got get him to compression test it. This engine has been sitting. Maybe something fell in it and scratched it but now it moves freely clockwise.
looks like it had some dust and we tried cleaning it as much as we can from the exhaus port. We used a shop vac to clean anything from the exhaust port.
should we just compreseion test it. Then risk the install and hope for the best.
the owner said he ran it for maybe 1k and just left the car sit. He parted the car out and let the motor sit for 3 years. He was hoping to drop it in a better donor body but decided to let it go. Everything looks good besides that scratch.

spins freely now. It sat for a few years. Owner removed coolant and oil so it was kindy dry. Should we try to sand it down a bit or leave it be.

If you’re confident everything looks good other than the scratch I say run it. Compression test is also a good idea so you don’t waste a bunch of time installing a bad motor. There’s a lot you can’t see through the exhaust ports.

Thanks guys. I think a small metal piece fell in it and scraped the housing. Not much compression in the rear. We might need too just find a good rear housing and wish for the best. It was rebuild and never really used.

We tried the junkyard compression on the motor and we dont hear swoosh sound from the rear. Only hear swoosh from the front rotor housing.
