Bad Noises at 2000 rpm's

Yes my NA S5 makes a loud metallic scraping sound but only directly at 2000 rpm's. Not below and not over. Just at 2000 rpm's. Doesn't matter what gear its in. Every time I start from a light it gets to 2K and then it goes CLCLCLCLANG but then its fine at 2200 or so. The car is in good shape otherwise and the engine was rebuilt just two years ago. What could be causing this?

It definately sounds like it could be a heat shield type of thing. I'll go look at it.

CyberPitz - did you get it rebuilt? What was wrong with it?

No, I just sold the car off. I was told it might have been the bushings doing that, though I don't know a thing of transmissions. It came straight under the shifter, which is what made me know it was the tranny. And it would only start clanking when I put it into 3rd gear, which was hell. Grinds really hard when you put it in. If I skip 3rd gear, the noise didn't occur near as much. It could also have been the tranny fluid. When I changed it out last, it was a pretty bad job. Lots of mistakes and everything. But in the end, I was going to get it rebuild with a new clutch kit, but said, "screw it" and got rid of the car :p

Yeah mine isn't that bad. Its just an annoying scraping/clanging sound right at 2000 rpm's. Its really weird.
