bad cooling after coolant flush

Hi all,
Recently I blew a coolant hose and replaced it. Now here in pullman WA it got below freezing so while the car was down (since it was already leaking coolant, I pulled the radiator plug and emplied it.) I have a full aluminum radiator since I have blown multiple stock ones. But before the hose blew it was warmer out but the car NEVER left the 1/3 mark on the temp gauge. Now it seems if I even drive sligthly spirited for even a few seconds it goes over 3/4 easily. Even if I drive super slow and keep the RPMs down it takes a long time to come back down. Any ideas? Could my thermostat have broke?

Thanks.

Sure you got all the air out of the system? Maybe it has a air bubble trapped up somewhere, and im sure you put antifreeze in correct?

Also when it blew the coolant hose you didnt overheat the car, because if you did you might have more serious problems

I'd change the t-stat because it's an easy-to-change safety measure, and make sure you bleed all the air out of the system afterwards.

check the coolant.Run the engine until the Thermostat opens up and starts Circulating coolant..and Run the Heater at Full blast so that he coolant can go through and Get any air out that may be in there. You can Squeeze the Coolany hoses,to try and Burp the system too.(It took a Try or 3,to get my Cooling system back up to Runnin order when I replaced a Rad...)..When the system is starting to put coolant out of the filler, with the thermostat opened up,Fill as much as possible, and fill your reservoir to the appropriate level..You will have to watch the level for a day or so to make sure that he System is OK...Good luck.

wow took about 5 .... fill drive cool drive fill cool drive fill cools before all the air is out of the system. Sneaky ninja bubbles. Anyways just did a few laps on the ice and she seems a lot better now. Goes up a little but comes down MUCH faster. I will just have to wait till I get home and I can use my little funnel that holds the water in it and lets all the bubbles come out while the car is running.

Thanks all, I should have thought about that first.
