bad build or need to tune????
can u blow a motor with out no tune?4-5,000 miles. mild street port. drove for 3-4 months just driving to work. never pushed it cause i know its not tune. motor was build at a local shop. they said its not warranty cause they told me to tune it. but when they first build it they blew the motor so this is the 2nd time they put the motor together. and it blew while driving to work.
On a mild streetport...
Seriously? They told you to "tune" it, knowing you're running a stock ecu, and a MILD streetport!? Something tells me that either you're keeping some information, or this shop that built your engine made a sucker out of you.
Probably both.

details on the build, turbo size, injectors ,fuel pump, ect ect,it sounds 2 me that it wasnt a stock build and that is why they told you 2 tune cause they knew that it was coming or maybe they have no idea of what they are doing
Why would it need a tune? I mean, yea if you were looking to up the boost and make some power sure you would need to tweak it, but with those mods you could drive around all day without any problems, assuming you were running stock boost levels and were not removing any fuel. Something smells like poop.

If the stock turbo was not ported (and even if it was, but not well) if could easily boost creep and max out that setup. I blew a stock port 87' TII w/ a v-mount and 720 secondaries. The stock timing maps are just too advanced to be run safely at higher boost levels.
I don't know why they told you to get a tune, there isn't any "tuning" to be done on the stock ecu (save reducing overall timing by a few degrees and bumping up Fuel pressure). What you need is an ECU (at least an Rtek 2.1)
