bad bearing? but where?

lately ive been getting this loud rattling on startup. it sounds like a bearing, but i dont know where!? its coming from the motor.
when i accelarate it gets alittle louder, when the car starts to warm up it turns into a drone, that increases pitch with rpm, and at about 6k it stops completely, and all i hear is the motor. then on the downrev it usually doesnt come back till i hit idle, it takes a few seconds.

the sound itself is either the fan or the waterpump i think. it sounds like shaking a bb inside a can at idle.

its motor related, it comes with every gear, and its been making this weird *** noise, cuz its slighly lower in pitch than the motor noise, so it makes this really creepy sounding harmony.. in other news, my drivers side muffler is crap.. but im fairly sure its in the motor compartment .. thoughts?

does it go away when you push in the clutch? it may be transmission related. quite common.

i think it's your starter. try turning the key and turn the ignition over but stop before the car starts. if the it keeps turning over even after you turn the key off, then the starter is your problem.

starter? if it was engaged while the engine was running, then he wouldn't have any teeth left on his starter.

$200 in labour for an FC water pump is INSANE.

it took me 30 minutes, but I had an electric fan.

WELL under 2 hours. You need to remove the fan shroud and the fan, that's it. The alternator bracket also attaches to it, so you'll need to retension the alternator belt.

DO IT YOURSELF! its EASY! you need a 10mm and 12mm wrench and sockets. and some RTV or the waterpump gasket.
