Backfire's and a lose of (eletrical) power

Ok on a s-5 gtu swapped out to a turbo two. With a open atomosphere blow off valve, backfires will happen. That natural. On my car though when it backfires, the whole car loses power for a few seconds, tail lights dim, interior gauges, everything loses power for a second or two everytime i blow off. any idea where the problem may be?

The engine is stalling if you are getting the voltage to drop momentarly.

Have you double checked the timing??? are you sure the trailing timing is not getting to close to the leading???

And your bump has been deleted, bumps are forbidden in the 2nd gen technical section.

<edit correction- your bumps are deleted

It's not stalling at all. I think it's a short of some sort

Also it's not a drop it's a complete loss of power for a second.

Your engine can stall for a second, and the engine keep running (gee doesn't anyone take any auto shop classes any more???)

The loss of the lights brightness, suggests that the alt is not spinning fast enough when this happens, which means the engine is not spinning fast enough, which means the engine is stalling. This can be confirmed by a multi meter on the battery when this is happening... voltage will drop.

If you use another blow off valve does it have the same problem??? Have you checked timing (instead of arguing that the engine is not stalling) as was first suggested (man how I hate people that refuse to start tracing out the problem, because they think it is something else).

The Blow off valve... are you sure it is venting correctly???

You're pissing me off in this thread.. first multiple bumps, then bogus replies. Get out there and do some work.

The blow-off valve isnt venting correctly(as stock does) but it will backfire from that only, not drop voltage.

.

It's not a drop, it's a complete loss. Therefore It isn't the alternator, because the battery is good. Also The engine doesn't stall when it's in 4th gear and 4-6 thousand rpm's.
