backfire on decel

Well, with 1 of the 2 mufflers off the car from rusting off I can really hear my backfires. Loud...So what is causing this? I get a CEL light sometimes so I think I might have to redo the plugs and both lead and trail lines. Anyone have some suggestions. ? The car idles rough and backfires lightly on idle.

it sounds like you have a fairly big sized vacum leak. check your intake hoses and such.

could it be from the lame Weapon R intake that was on the car when i bought it, there is a tube running from it to what looks like the VAC pump, not sure though. THen 2 more running from the intake by the TB that are both short to what looks like the manifolds. I really need a nice day to finaly get under the car and look at it.

air pump. and probably not. are you ported? my street port has a slight pop on idle but thats pretty much normal for a port job.

the popping on decel sounds like your running rich... its not really a backfire its an afterburn... check your o2 sensor? and make sure all your plugs are firing

not sure, i doubt the car is ported but could be. I bought it before last winter and have been waiting till nice weather to get some help pulling the engine to clean it up. *shrug* the 02 sencor looks good, i'll have to check the plugs.
