BAC Mounting Question

I am working on my S4 with an S5 engine project. I am using the S5 intake manifold but plan on using the S4 BAC since I am keeping the stock wiring harness. I have gone a little cross-eyed comparing S4 and S5 diagrams so I want some help from you professionals.

Is the air outlet from the BAC going the correct direction on my manifold? I haven't been able to find a good picture in my S5 factory service manual to conclusively determine which way the air outlet goes. Will it work the way it currently is on the manifold or will I have to try to rotate the air outlet?

Should point Up and towards the front like the picture I have attached. Maybe you can rotate the inlet tube? Didn't know the S4 one was different like that. Yet again, as long as the rubber tube from the BAC mates with the outlet on the black intake tube your fine.

Ok, now I remember reading that the BAC inlet connects to the intake. Would it be possible to run the BAC with a small filter on it instead of rotating and connecting it to the intake? The intake that came with the car is modified and can't remember if it has the tube to connect it to the BAC or not. It seems to me that a cheap small filter might work and get rid of the tube that connects to the intake.

No, because then you will have a vacuum leak.

You have the S4 BAC mounted exactly the way it should be. You can't rotate the inlet to point the way the S5 one does, but a long piece of heater hose can loop around to the large nipple on the rubber inlet duct.

You can't put a filter on it, or the stock ECU will not be happy. It has to pull metered air, not cause a large vacuum leak.

This is a picture of my S5 manifold conversion on my S4 NA engine. I used the S4 BAC because I didn't have the right plug for the S5 version. The plug will require loosening the secondary rail mounts or some shaving of the plastic, but it will plug into the BAC ok. You can see from your pic and mine that it's very close to the rail.

Thanks a lot RotaryRocket. That picture and your explanation really helps me out. Do you happen to have a thread about your manifold swap? Beautiful engine bay by the way.
