I use RTV (AKA silicone sealant) on all my intake & coolant seals.

Clean off the old gasket.
Put a thin coat on both sealing surfaces.
Let it set for 5-10 minutes.
Assemble.

Get some gasket paper from an auto parts store and cut one out yourself.

I wouldn't trust sealant to stay out of the places it shouldn't go...
