BAC dismantling and reassembly

89 vert with a JDM 13B swapped with N/A harness modified.

I was in the process of swapping an N374 BAC with an N370 BAC onto my JDM UIM. I custom cut a gasket and was attaching it to the BAC with RTV sealant. I was cutting out the main opening on the DIY gasket and about 1/4 of the gasket material fell into the BAC opening. I tried picking it out but pushed it in further. I tried flushing it out and washed it completely out of sight. Obviously I don't want to end up with gasket material going into my engine.

How rebuildable are BACs? There are allen wrench fittings on either end of the BAC. How complicated are the internals? Am I better off working at getting the material out w/out taking the thing apart, or are they pretty simple and easily put back together?

FYI for anyone who is interested. JDM N374 BAC has no idle adjustment screw and the JDM UIM has no corresponding opening. Not that it has anything to do with rebuilding a BAC valve...just an added tidbit of knowledge.

Try using a vacuum cleaner with an attachment eg a crevice tool and place tape over the area outside the BAC opening.

As the JDM BAC doesn't have an adjustment, use the screw on the throttle linkage. I found a new 374 and installed it on my TII years ago, but it is a PIA to adjust the idle when needed as it's under the top mount.

I tried taking it apart this weekend, with the same result.

I'm having idling and TPS issues. I don't talk about it in that link, but my idle is sitting really low. I want to check out the TB and make sure there aren't any issues there.

Here's a link to that thread

I'm going to build some PVC pipe so I can remove the TMIC and adjust idle more easily.
