Axxis brake systems
Does anyone know anything about these brake upgrades. Heres a brief description of the brake pads:
Axxis Ultimate is a kevlar- and ceramic-strengthened compound which offers far and away the best price to performance ratio currently available in a high-performance street pad. Proper bedding procedure is critical to the performance of this pad, but once complete, you can expect truly world-class bite, MOT, minimal rotor and pad wear, and very low noise levels. Dust production is medium-to-high. On front-engine platforms, the Ultimate is excellent for aggressive street and autocross use in the front calipers. It also works very well in the rear, for applications ranging from aggressive street to moderate track use. Ultimate is NOT recommended for use on road courses in front calipers as this can cause uneven pad deposition on rotors as well as resultant vibration. Street and autocross use only. OK for club-level track use in rear calipers.
prices are actually affordable:
42.95 for the fronts and 49.95 for the rears

I think I'm addicted
I only saw Axxis Ultimates for FD's so I was skeptical about buying them,
my take on the Metal Master's is that they aren't too good
but i heard great feedback from Ultimate users....
I've asked but still don't know if we can use FD brake pads....
anyone know?

I've tried both the metal masters and the ultimates - both work well and were easily purchased from a local shop. Personally, i like the metal masters more for harder driving - then again, its all personal preference.

jon,
what is the difference that u feel with the ultimates and metal master?
well when i bought the car i had a set of project Mu in it..... and i definitely felt the difference between that and metal masters, but i herad alot of good stuff about how much better ultimates were compared to metal masters in other forums as well. (but i changed them at that time already)
oh, and to answer my own question, i checked kragen, and FD and FC brakes (5 lug) are the same. they have the same product code

I have injector envy!
I had the ultimates on my turbo civic back in the day, and plan on buying them for the 7 for street driving.
I remember locking up the tires at 80mph, very hard bite.

i have them at all 4 corners in my fc. they are good pads, but not exactly perfect for the street. i'm finding that they take a few stops to firm up. the brake pedal has to be pushed in really low before they grab when the brakes are cold. it will come up a bit after a few stops (i am going to play with the pedal adjustment to see if i can get it to feel more "normal"). i have read that FCs have a very soft initial feel to the brakes though.
i've used hawk hps and hp +. the hps are good for the street. the hp + are a little aggressive, if you ask me. you can lock your tires way too easily, which can make for a tricky car to stop in an emergency, unless you are used to it.
one brand i want to try is endless, vita nuevo, or whatever they're called. they're a bit pricey though.
