Aviation fuel, you think?
Hi guys.. I was talking to a buddy yesterday who goes to the airport to pick up aviation fuel for his VW powered dunebuggy. I said huhh, and he said it is about 100-102 octane( not race or jet fuel) and has a higher lead count and has a little coolant in it. Since VW's are air cooled and often don't have radiators he said it helps keep his temps down. Would this work for my 7. I'm all about lower intake temps. I'm currently about to finish my 13b RE conversion with a T04E at 15-20psi boost. I already premix, now if i have to go to the airport to collect gas I could quite possibly have one of the highest maintenance 7's I know. Considering it's my weekend toy and not DD I would defeninatly make the sacrifice.

Haven't we ALL heard this
It is 100 octane. Has a little lead in it and the lead acts as a cooling agent.
Jet fuel is kerosone so I don't think that would be helpful.
For a turbo charged car...it could be a good thing if you like to run high boost and advance the ignition. And it is going to be hell on your O2 sensors.

So I've been told there is no coolant in av gas. Whether that's true or not is still debateable. I think the big deal breaker for me is the fact that the o2 sensor will become ruined quickly. Considering I'll be running a wideband I'm going to guess that could be a pretty expensive replacement piece. Oh well, maybe i should consider water/alky injection. Are those sprayers boost or temp activated. How much water/alky do they burn through under hard driving conditions. Thanks guys.
