WTF man, I thought it was a pretty normal question....

To OP, I personally tend to stay away from any safety device that bolts together. Kind of defeats the purpose, however, there are some decent kits that bolt together that you could later weld up for strength.... but if it were me, I'd just do it right the first time and have somebody professionally install it.

A quick FYI also, if the bar is being installed for passing inspections of a sanctioning body, check to see if bolt in's are legal. I know IHRA says "no way" to bolt in cages.

I have the autopower bolt-in 4 point roll bar. Went in without too much fuss except it's very hard to get it in past the lumps in the interior trim that contain the motors for the mouse belts. I think that's a S5 "feature" though so you should be ok on that front.

Autopower has been making roll bars and cages for decades... and you can easily weld the bolt in cage. The one thing I don't like about the "race" bar is that you cant move your seat back or recline it. It did stiffen the chassis up big time

P.S. the FC bar is the same as the FB one (at least the rear part)

wow. that was oh so very unnecessary with the hate. the dude who started the new thread on wheel sizes deserves hate.
back on subject
a bolt in is a great idea as to whether or not you want a cage.
you kinda have to weigh pros and cons
pros: stiffens up chassis to a noticable proportion, recomended mounting point for harnesses, and also is great if you get into a crash cause it might save your life (did my friend)
now, the cons: usually out of budget for fc owners (i just happen to have friends), unneccessary 98% of the time, problems fitting, cramping an already small interior, most of the time (in norcal anyways) cops harass about cages.

so, just weigh those odds, and forget haters like carbonrx (BAN!!)

peace

BASTARD thank you for your real help.

The autopower bolt in cage is SCCA & NASA legal for club racing.
http://www.autopowerindustries.com/rollcages.asp

I was just looking for what experiences people have had with them, they also sell U-Weld cages that you weld in yourself. Cusco also sells bolt in cages for many different cars.

I'm looking at bolt in cages because they are cheaper then custom cages, but still add rigidity and it’s much much safer on the track (and then some if you are in a harness) and should I choose to sell the car I can take it out if need be.

Thanks for the help and support....btw haters never bother me, just fun to laugh at.

Man, I was considering the race bar, but I'd like to be able to recline a bit.

I run the Jegster cage, just an FYI. Its purely a weld in though.

Wasnt my first choice of things to do, but I got tired of getting kicked off the track.
