There's a few. Each has drawbacks, though.
1. Stock location, I think the thread is wrong for most aftermarket probes.
2. Coolant line that runs to the BAC, reads slightly lower than at the WP.
3. Radiator hose via an adapter. Doesn't get readings until thermostat opens.
4. S4 Thermostat housing. Doesn't get readings until thermostat opens.

I'm going to do #2 when it eventually comes up on the priority list. Currently pretty low.

I don't know why everybody avoids the water pump housing it is the best place for it. Not sure if the mechanical one can make a right turn right after the sender but I put my sensor to my electric one in the front of the wp housing. Didn't even have to take the housing off the car just the thermostat housing and thermostat and shove some towels inthere to keep the shavings out when you drill and tap your hole. Then vacuum before towel removal. Might think about using the electric one if you haven bought the gauge yet. It makes life easier as far as sensor placement.

i have not had a need to extend the tubing yet

had it on a s4 thermostat housing, and now have it tapped into the water pump housing

I always just use the stock location.

Just need an adapter like this: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...asp?RecID=3142
