Autometer Turbo Gauge lighting Q?

Hey Crew -

Any of you guys manage to get an autogauge light installed such that it is switched and dimmed by the regular light switch? If so, which wire did you pick up?

(couldn't find an answer by searching, so I figured I'd ask)

yes

You see that little light in the ashtray area, pull that sucka out and cut it, strip it, and run wires (solder and heat shrink/crimp!) Best idea is to run the wires to a terminal post type setup (available at any parts store) so that you can run other gauge lights in parrellel to that one. whala!

No problem.

Oh yea, btw, that light is useless anyway!

keen idea... now, I guess I should repair that whole area since I busted it long ago when trying to put in more cigarette lighters (for inverters, gps..etc..)

I was thinking there was something in the area of the a-pillar, but I got no problem tie-wrapping more wires.

Got pictures of a terminal post setup? Ive never seen one in my life. They stupid people had no idea what I was talking about when I wanted one for my battery, much less a small one for gauges...

Wow, I didn't know that that light was controled by the gauge cluster dimmer. I'm gonna have to use that for something. Good stuff guys!

I ended up just running one wire (hot) from that light, and then just grounded the other one locally. Works great, if you call that "bright" light great. It'll probably look better on the open road, not in the garage with a shoplight.

Of course, I broke the boost line running it through the firewall, so it's back to the Discount Auto in the AM.
