autometer gauge pod install -already searched

I need to know where the best place is to drill and put the gauge pod in...I obviously can never return the car to 100% stock if I drill into the A-pillar. So should I just mark it with tape and take out the one part of the a-pillar, then drill/attach the pod to it and never remove it?

Is there any alternative to drilling?

Pictures are prefered, I like to see how it looks drilled before I go drilling holes.

I did the drilling. I first figured out where I would like the holes on the pod. Then drilled the pod. I then placed the pod on the apillar in the car and took a thin and long screwdriver and sliped it through the holes in the pod. I then scractched the plastic on the apillar. This gave me the spot to drill the apillar.

Also, depending on the gauge you are installing you will have to cut a larger hole for your wires to pass through. If you are instaling a boost gauge it will be a slightly larger hole.

I would stay away from those push type fasteners Autometer supplies. Go to the autoparts store and pick up some interior screws. Much more secure and easier to remove in the future. Good luck.

You didn't say what year RX-7 you are wanting to install an Autometer pod. The 86-88 RX-7 will be a perfect fit while the 89-91 RX-7 will provide a less than perfect fit. Autometer did not do their homework when designing the pods. The 89-91 RX-7s have the motorized seat belts. If you have the 89-91 rx-7 you will need to do some molding and cutting. I would recommend a heat gun to mold it.

...

In Canada none of the Turbo II models came with the auto-belts. That was only in the US, Autometer must have done their homework only on the Canadian RX-7 DOh! (BTW, my sig has my car in it..1989 Turbo2) =)

The pod is a perfect fit on my 89-91 with the 89-91 pod =)

Man, what I would not give to find a canda rx-7 in america in a salvage yard. I would most definitly take out those seatbelts and plastic and put it in my car. I dislike that bloody seat belt!!!!
