Greetings~

First off, please don't answer "get rid of the automatic" or "swap to a manual". I've only had the car for a couple of weeks and need to get it paid off before I can think about something like that.

Here's the issue:

Intermittantly, my 1990 FC3C NA Auto will skip 2nd gear when I have it in "D" or "S". If I drop it down to "L" it will stay in 1st gear. At other times, the transmission shifts like it's supposed to.

Any suggestions?

have you tried servicing the transmission?

i would try some "Trans X" transmission treatment, it helps unstick valves in the valve body fo cars having transmission shifting issues and i have seen it work decently firsthand on some shifting issues.

 

I'll try servicing the transmission this weekend.
