i have a 88 gxl that was auto and the diff is a 3.9 lsd but i have since swapped to standard and put in the 4.1 lsd from another 88 gxl i found. to answer your question about the auto gxl diff being a lsd is yes.


Red Rabbit to answer your question with using an auto lsd.
I would say keep your open diff and get it welded. You still have a 4.1 but now its like having a hardcore 2way diff for the price of like 25 bucks. With a welded diff you will slide like butter and it will make breaking traction easyer.

Please don't weld your differential spider gears if you ever intend to drive the car on the street or in an autoX. The so-called "Lincoln Locker" is an offroad or drifter stunt only, not to be used on a street-driven vehicle.

dont worry nodohc i am not going to do the linkin locker way. i still have to use my car as a daily driver not a daily drifter. i am just going to keep the r&p and jsut take the core lsd.
