autocross n00b

first time autocrossing tommorow, lets hear some tips and pointers and some secrets as well to help me out

Make sure your car will pass BASIC tech before you go.
1. Battery tied down
2. No cord showing thru tread
3.Suspension is in decent shape
4. Functioning seatbelts
5. Remove looose objects and trash from car
6. 3/4 tank of gas

Arrive early and register. Identify yourself as a Novice!. Get your car ready for tech. Most clubs will offer to provide a Mentor to a 1st time driver, listen to them, they will help

Walk the course, ask questions. Be sure of your work assignment. Take a comfy chair, sunscreen, hat, lots of cold water!!

Best of all: HAVE FUN!!!!!!

Dont worry about any mods to your car: You need seat time, lots of seat time. Enjoy yourself

my buddy told me they dont like to see spaghetti under the hood, so i went out and shortened wires i had made to lengths they needed to be and covered them up with some wire looms. i've got an msd box and some fog lights installed. looks alot cleaner there by the battery now .

it probably too late for you but they told me slower is
faster i said ya right and got my *** kicked by almost
everyone. of course my gxl is in no way a good autocross car as i have no low end torque, due to a
header and racepipe. but take it slow and build speed
with each pass. lates matt22

thanks guys, i just got back, i had a GREAT time. i didn't do to bad at all either, i beat a wrx and i was one second behind an expreriance nsx. the car did great, i had to rig together a battery tie down for now (zipties), they said you better bring a propper one next time.
