auto-x stock class shocks?
What's my best bet? One friend said to get Koni adjustables because nobody ever checks, but I'd like to have a clear conscience, and as I understand it, that means no more than two positions.

Haven't we ALL heard this
If your desire to stay in a stock class in Solo II than you are permited to change out your struts (not shocks there is a differene). However, they must retain stock mounting posistions. So any strut you want would be legal for stock comp.
Konis would be a good choice. That is what I did. You have to modify your front struts to accept them. I did a write up if you are curious.

However, you cannot change your springs out to aftermarket. That will take you prepared.
Also, at the clubs I have raced at they do not really check your mods. You could hide a lot. However, in the sake of fairness most people do not play that way.
I am sure if you were competing at national levels though there would be a check on that.

where you racing at? is there a link to your rule book? ill help scrutinize...
theres some funny things you can do sometime. I run under the mid-western console and my 90' GXL is a "C" class car. But in the rule book, it says 89-90 RX-7 non-turbo. So that also includes GTUs. That means i can bring my car to GTUs Spec and not get pointed..... or bumped to prepared...

Most stock classes allow for upgrading to anything that was factory installed on the chasis at any point of its production run. LSD's, diff gearing, adjustable suspensions, heavier anti-sway bars, wider tires, stiffer springs, (you could get some vert springs) stock intake manifolds, (vdi if you can't run a ported motor) aluminum hood and the like are all fair game at that point. Most competitors aren't looking to hose the competition, but you can get away with a lot under most stock rule books.

You would need to convert the whole car from base to GXL if you wanted to legally do the 5-lug swap and add power windows & rear wiper (though I don't know why you'd do that...)
Of course, I could be wrong.

Hey, power windows add to the totall hp capacity of the car man! j/k
I could be thinking of a funky stock prepared class for the nhra too. I know there is one that allows all that stuff to be picked apart as long as it was offered from the factory.
